A Bit about Susan

I was born in Los Angeles and grew up in both the San Fernando Valley and Orange County, CA. Because I was very shy in my early years, it wasn't until I was an adult that I decided it was time to get serious about the music that was inside of me. I sang in church choirs and on singing teams for many years, and then was part of the Praise Symphony Orchestra as the soprano in a quartet. The symphony, a volunteer group of approximately forty-five musicians, turned 30 last year! They perform all over Southern California, usually on a Sunday evening. I was with the orchestra for 22 years, having only recently stepped back from that ministry. On the tribute CD for Vietnam veterans (not the audio clip), you can hear the other members of the symphony quartet, Kirk, Cindy, and formerly, Ken, performing the background vocals for "Standin' Tall."

In December of 2003, the orchestra released its first Christmas recording project entitled, GOOD NEWS! GREAT JOY!, which is also the title of my own song on that project, and you can hear the quartet there as well. An earlier recording project, REJOICE!, also features our quartet singing another of my songs entitled, "He is Here Among Us." The Praise Symphony recordings are available on the web through CD Baby as well.

The Mariners Church (Irvine, CA.) kids recording project of 2001 includes one of my songs for children, entitled, "Wow!"

In addition to my musical endeavors, in May of 2007, I graduated from Vanguard University in Southern California, with a Master of Arts degree in religion with an emphasis in leadership studies. My thesis (soon to be available through TREN) is titled, Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs for the Use of the People Called Christians, a play on John Wesley's major hymnic work! The thesis reviewed many Biblical passages with regard to musical and worship terms and instruction, as well as reviewed most of the major events and writings in Church history with regard to the use of music to both glorify God and edify the listeners/singers of the faith in the faith, up through the time of the Wesleys. That was part of the foundation upon which I justified a content analysis of the contemporary praise and worship songs of Hillsong Church, Australia.

I live in Orange County and have two grown children, one of whom is married and has blessed me with twin grandsons.

I would like to take this opportunity to give a special thanks to Ken Larsen, Garry Lavender, and Scott Mills, for all of their musical expertise in helping me to develop my songs. They have given so much to me in their time, their talent, and their encouragement. I truly could not have done this project without them. Also, a huge "Thank You!" to Mike McIntyre for his always cheerful help with various tasks!

If you would like to have prayer for anything you're facing in your life, I would be happy to keep you in prayer about that, and everything will be kept in the strictest confidence. When we pray according to GOD'S will and in the name of JESUS CHRIST, HE will hear us, and answer. HE is faithful! The LORD loves you - never forget that!
